As dusk falls over Northumberland, the 28 arches of the Royal Border Bridge are illuminated in a swathe of festive colours, arcing over and reflecting on the tidal waters of the River Tweed in Berwick upon Tweed (Sat. 17/12/16).
Each arch is lit with LED lighting using 30 metres of cable down from track level to the lighting panels on each of the arches piers.
Opened in 1850 by Queen Victoria, the impressive stone and brick structure designed by Robert Stephenson reaches a length of 2,162ft carrying the East Coast Mainline between England and Scotland.
